Since 1998, Stone Pine has grown from three to more than 125 professionals. Many of our team members have 10-40 years of experience in accounting, finance, or tax. Their in-depth knowledge is an invaluable resource to your organization in the fast-paced industry of private equity investing. We are organized as a public accounting firm and all of our partners are licensed certified public accountants. We focus on private equity fund administration on a day-to-day basis. However, many of our partners and directors previously worked for internationally recognized accounting firms and have developed specialized skills to meet your unique needs.
All of our professionals currently specialize in providing private equity administrative services. Many of our team members have spent their entire career providing private equity administrative services. Some team members were formerly auditors with internationally recognized accounting firms where they specialized in the financial services industry. We understand the accounting requirements associated with private equity funds and can prepare your financial statements according to GAAP, IFRS, or other SEC reporting standards and draft footnotes that incorporate the latest accounting pronouncements.
Stone Pine possesses the specialized tax experience that is desired in today’s private equity environment. Several of our team members were formerly tax specialists with internationally recognized accounting firms. They have specialized partnership tax experience, which was developed by working with a variety of investment, oil and gas, real estate, and equipment leasing partnerships. We have vast experience in reviewing complex partnership agreements and working through subsequent closes, partnership transfers or terminations, management fee computations, and detailed waterfall calculations.
Stone Pine can also advise on international tax issues associated with foreign investors and offshore structures or investments. We have considerable experience advising on foreign tax credit planning, managing withholding taxes, cash repatriation, mergers and acquisitions, and entity structuring. We can evaluate the tax impacts of new private equity investment structures, advise foreign investors on treaty benefits to reduce withholding taxes, and prepare complex calculations such as computing a foreign tax credit, Subpart F or PFIC inclusions, effectively connected income, or branch profits tax. We can also assist with your foreign bank account reporting and FATCA compliance.
